DonorSupport

Terms of use

Last updated: 1 November 2026

The short version

DonorSupport provides the platform. Campaign pages are created by their organisers, who are responsible for what they say and how the money is used.

Donations are voluntary gifts processed by Stripe. They are usually final, but mistakes, card fraud and proven campaign fraud are reviewed and refunded.

Campaigns that lie, break the law or misuse photos get removed, and donors are refunded where we can.

These terms sit under the laws of England and Wales.

This summary is here to help you find your way around. The full text below is the part that counts legally.

1.What you are agreeing to

These terms are the agreement between you and DonorSupport whenever you use this site, whether you are donating, organising a campaign or just reading. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

If you donate, you must be 18 or older and legally able to enter into a contract.

2.What DonorSupport is, and is not

DonorSupport is a platform. We provide the pages, the payment processing and the tools that let one person raise money from many.

We are not a charity, we do not run the campaigns listed here, and we do not decide how the money raised is spent. Each campaign page is created by its organiser, and what they write and promise is their responsibility, not ours.

We do not guarantee that a campaign is accurate or that funds will be used exactly as described. We investigate reports of misuse and remove campaigns that break these terms, but the decision to donate is always yours.

3.Donations

Every donation is voluntary. You choose the amount and the currency at checkout, and the payment is processed by Stripe. A donation is only complete once the payment succeeds. Until then nothing is charged and nothing is owed.

You will receive a receipt by email for every successful donation. Keep it, it is your proof of payment.

Donations are gifts, not purchases. You are not buying a product, a service or a share of anything, and a donation does not entitle you to anything in return from the organiser.

If you choose to appear anonymously, only "Anonymous" is shown publicly. The organiser and DonorSupport still see your details, because we need them to process the payment and keep records the law requires.

4.Refunds

Donations are usually final. That said, mistakes and fraud happen, and we treat those differently:

  • If you donated by mistake, for example the wrong amount, contact us within 30 days through the help centre and we will review it.
  • If a campaign turns out to be fraudulent, contact us as soon as you suspect it. We investigate every report and refund donations where fraud is confirmed.
  • If your card was used without your permission, contact your bank first and then us.

Outside these cases, refunds are at our discretion and the organiser's. A change of heart is not grounds for a refund.

5.If you organise a campaign

Organisers are responsible for everything on their campaign page: the text, the photos, the funding goal and any updates. The story must be true, the photos must be yours to use, and the money raised must go to the purpose you described.

We may ask organisers for evidence about a campaign, pause donations while we check something, or remove a campaign that breaks these terms. Where funds have already been raised on a fraudulent campaign, we will refund donors where we can.

6.What is not allowed

You may not use DonorSupport for campaigns or content that:

  • Break the law, or raise money for anything illegal.
  • Lie about who the money is for or what it will do.
  • Use photos or stories that belong to someone else without permission.
  • Promote hatred, violence or discrimination.
  • Target a private individual with abuse or defamation.
  • Attempt to interfere with the platform or other people's donations.

Breaking these rules can mean removal of the campaign, refunding of donations and, where appropriate, a report to the authorities.

7.Content and ownership

Organisers keep ownership of what they post. By posting it, they give DonorSupport permission to display it on the site and use it to promote their campaign, for example in a share preview. That permission ends when the campaign is removed, except for copies already shared by others.

Everything else on the site, the design, the logo, the code, belongs to DonorSupport. Do not copy it.

8.Where our responsibility ends

We work hard to keep the site available, accurate and secure, but we provide it as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses caused by campaigns, by organisers, by downtime, or by third parties such as payment processors.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude.

9.Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

10.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform changes. The version on this page is always the current one, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. For significant changes we will say so on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
